To Hell with it, I might just follow my own desire and free will!

Aka, the thing our culture tells you is egotistical and self-centered

Today, I want to talk about desire.

I went through the first two episodes of a TV series called Lucifer this week.

I know, shocking.

Consuming TV series is a complete waste of time, distracting you from life.

Living through the archetypes (characters) onscreen instead of living out your own stories.

Pursuing your own desires.

And there was a moment where I'd think that to be the case too.

Hollywood is a mass distraction engine.

Geared towards distracting us from our immediate experience.

So all that it creates is propaganda, brainwashing, and mindless content.

Which I'm unable to enjoy ever again, having woken up from the illusion.

Or that's what I thought at least.

Today, I'm able to let go of that narrative.

It doesn't prevent me from immersing myself in a plot and allowing myself to be entertained.

It does imply that my standards have gone up a lot.

Especially if the story is delivered in a way that reveals another layer of human psychology.

In an entertaining way.

And that's precisely what the show has done for me so far.

It has all the elements that I consider non-negotiable:

  • Controversial character: Lucifer, The Lightbringer, The adversary, also known as The Devil.

Check!

  • Dogma and polarizing belief: The age-old story of good vs. bad and all the sacred cows in between.

Check!

  • Entertainment and intelligent humor: An entertaining angle of The Devil taking a vacation from administering Hell in the city of angles. Aka. Los Angeles.

LOL! Check!

  • And the bonus element, esoteric symbology, and occult wisdom sprinkled across the script like fairy dust.

Check!

So, how does this show connect to desire, you might be wondering at this point.

Or, if you're used to my "subtle between the lines" type of narration, you've already connected the dots.

The Devil, his gift of God that enables him to entice human beings to share their most hidden desires.

Lucifer, a light bringer, is also known to illuminate the left-hand path.

One that takes us towards our divine gifts through the pursuit of free will and desire.

Aka, the thing our common culture (through religious myth) tells you is egotistical and self-centered.

And is a big no-no in the great book of 10 commandments.

You know. It's the devil's work.

It's what Buddha teaches you to renounce and submit yourself to God's will.

The TAO.

The Universe.

Being in service to others.

You get the drift, right?

Well, I'm here to slaughter that holy cow.

I've been having a lot of fun pricking bubbles and dissolving other people's beliefs.

It's not always a pleasant sight.

In fact, it took me some time to learn that unsolicited bubble pricking is frowned upon, if not entirely unnecessary in most cases.

But, given that you're reading my newsletter, to Hell with it! I might just follow my own free will and desire.

I guess this indirect talking around the subject will suffice to illustrate the point.

I take it you'll not hold it against me if I don't end it with practical actionable advice.

On second thought, let's dispel the mystery and make it an objective of this Monday Muse to make things as clear and pragmatic as humanly possible.

Chase your desires.

Pursue your curiosity.

Say YES to things that feel like a FCUK YES in your body.

Say no to things by default.

Save your bandwidth by filling your own cup first.

Make sure your cup overfloweth and realize you're in no position to help anyone with an empty cup.

Will you feel guilty first?

Probably.

You're always going to feel uncomfortable doing things you haven't done before or doing them in a new way.

What about if I desire to murder somebody you might object?

Oh.

OK.

So now we're having a proper conversation.

Things are never black and white (good and bad).

That would be too easy.

One-dimensional. AKA, boring.

If you feel uneasy talking about murder, well, let's say you should probably check yourself before you wreck yourself.

Projecting your darker elements onto external enemies is not the way forward.

Playing the good samaritan while being oblivious to your shadow underbelly.

In fact, that was precisely the type of behavior pattern that lead to:

  1. The holy crusades

  2. Witch burnings

  3. Holy Inquisitions

There's been a whole lot of murder going on in the name of God as opposed to in the name of Lucifer.

You're not a one-dimensional being.

Start acting like it.

Illumination is a process of dispelling false beliefs.

We've got some work to do, wouldn't you agree?

P.S.

This newsletter was delivered in somewhat of a preachy tone but know this.

There's no judgment here.

It comes from the most compassionate and loving intention.

I would know, I've been chastising myself and casting judgment for the longest time.
