The principle of cause and effect, and how you build habits in 7 steps

You will continue to suffer the effects of unconscious causes!

You will continue to suffer the effects of unconscious causes!

Being able to fine-tune and refine your mental, emotional and spiritual aspects is a process of trial and error.

Each successive time when you hit a wall is in itself an opportunity to become aware of the underlying pattern, behavior, or habit, that leads you to certain results.

Very simply, the effects manifest as your actions or behavior are caused by your beliefs.

The way you think, the questions you ask yourself, and the emotions that drive your behavior are able to be traced back to your core beliefs and values.

Which is rooted in how you identify yourself.

Your identity or role in life.

Better yet, the number of different roles you play.

This is the most fundamental question to ask yourself and become very clear around. This is the question I’ve been asking myself for as long as I remember.

And the answer kept changing and evolving. And it still does.

So, the common denominator of any successful change or course correct in the experience of life is and always will be linked to your identity and the beliefs you hold around particular aspects of life.

A clear example would be your belief around money or wealth.

If you were raised in a family and culture at large, that demonizes wealth and associates bad traits and behavior with having money, then you’re polarized in your thinking.

The direct result of being just above broke or living paycheck to paycheck, not building wealth is caused by what you believe.

You don’t want to consider yourself a bad person. You saw the Disney comic book when you were little and Donald Duck had that rich Uncle Scrooge who was a Dick (as well as a Duck).

And you’d rather be a good person than rich. You see where I’m getting at, I’m sure.

You trying to amass any size of Wealth without first clearing out your beliefs is going to end up in self-sabotage and you’ll never achieve your goal.

You’ve heard the stories about lottery winners losing all their winnings and even going further in debt.

Why do you think that is?

🛠 Reflect, contemplate and journal your beliefs and habits.

Every successful change begins on the identity level. Contemplate the image of the person you desire to become.

[ ] What does this person believe about her/himself and the World that I need to adopt?

[ ] What does the person I am becoming do on a daily basis, consistently?

[ ] What kind of relationships does this person maintain and develop?

[ ] This is how a “bad habit” forms. Apply the principle of polarity and reverse engineer it to get a healthy habit:

  1. The 1st time it's a mistake.

  2. The 2nd time it's a decision.

  3. The 3rd time it's a routine.

  4. The 4th time it's a bad habit.

  5. The 5th time it's a challenge to stop.

  6. The 6th time it builds regret.

  7. The 7th time it seeps into your identity. Derail early.

So here you have it, actionable advice.

If you want to dive deeper into more principles for self-mastery, we just wrapped up with a 7-day course and it was lit.

Should you wish to partake in it, there are still 3 (free) spots available before I redesign and integrate the course into a larger offering.
