DO YOU RULE WITH SUPREME POWER OVER YOUR OWN PSYCHE?
THE QUEEN IS DEAD. LONG LIVE THE QUEEN.
THE QUEEN IS DEAD. LONG LIVE THE QUEEN.
No doubt that you've caught wind of the death of the monarch of Great Britain last week.
There's been quite an upheaval on social media triggered by this event.
But I'm not going to be touching the surface level.
I do however want to speak to this event on a deeper level.
It's significant.
I feel I'd be doing you a disservice if I hadn't shared the symbolical and mythological elements.
So here it goes.
Let's tackle the phenomenon of the symbolism of the Sovereign.
Like with everything else in life, there's face value.
The glamour of the royal family.
The red carpets and protocols.
The weight of the time-heavy tradition
.We're talking about an institution as old as religion itself.
The crown.
With all of its underbelly heavy hand implications that you see sprayed around like a venomous serpent.
Like vitriol.
What does it say about the individual who would be so quick to celebrate the death of another?
WHY you might wonder?
It's because of the symbolism of this role.
The hard-hitting authority that it carries.
You see, there's the actual human being. And then there's the social role that this being takes on.
But that's not what I want to talk about. I don't care about the politics behind this.
I do care about the mythological significance this role plays in our human psyche.
You see. Because the Sovereign is the ultimate symbolic representation of the seat of power within each and every single human being.
I don't care if you associate the image of Kings and Queens with an age of dinosaurs or dungeons and dragons card games.
Grow up.
Don't look at things at face value.
Look at what's not being said.
Look at what's implied.
Until you mature psychologically (not time-related), you don't have the capacity to embody and radiate this inner authority.
It's your capacity to care. It's what makes you a force for truth and justice.
A generative service decisively moving against the onslaught of chaos and bringing about order.
If this triggers you, I get it. I was there myself. A fucking rebel without a cause in defiance of any semblance of structure and order.
Because I saw it as a direct assault on my freedom.
Because I had a thing with authority.
I still do, if it's unjust and misguided.
But I got over it.
Adolescence was fun.
But it was time to grow up.
It was time to recognize the proper role of leadership and authority.
Because that's how things function in this human realm.
So, as we talked about the Passive and Active Shadow expressions of this psychic structure in the previous 2 posts, let's examine those.
1. THE TYRANT
Expressed through you as the active shadow pole, you are oblivious to the wants and needs of others.
You only care about your personal goals and interests. Think of Uncle Scar from the Lion King.
Driven by selfishness and jealousy, even hatred towards everything that reminds you of your perceived lack of power.
Your relationship with your closest is often riddled with abuse and brutality.
Almost as if this lack of inner structure and projection of power onto others is a way in which to prevent criticism.
2. THE WEAKLING
The passive shadow pole is where you give away your power over your life. To others and to external circumstances.
It's not uncommon to see paranoia and dependent personality disorders.
Driven by an unconscious need to be adored, worshipped, and recognized for your unconditional authority.
Think King Joffrey from The Game of Thrones.
See-through insecurity and lack of calmness are what give away this pattern.
It's the opposite of the fully centered meditator.
Like an onion without its core centeredness.
Self-importance and the inability to lead are rooted in an anxious need for approval and safety.
This is what happens in a world without a monarchy.
An inner monarchy that is.
You are the sovereign of your realm.
Act like it.
